Every morning Madylin catches the bus and we watch her from our living room windows. She sits on the side of the bus that faces us, so we wave and blow kisses as the bus drives off. Mark and I will often sigh and make comments about how great our little girl is. Not so today.
She wanted to bring her toy recorder to school. I guess all of the 4th graders on the bus are learning to play the recorder and they're all playing their tunes on the bus ride home. Because she's in 2nd grade and doesn't have permission to bring an instrument, we told her no. So, she and Mark are having this argument about it on the front porch and Madylin is refusing to walk down our driveway to the bus stop. She's stomping her feet, growling and has a couple of tears forming in her eyes. Just doesn't want to take "no" for an answer.
Lucky for us the bus arrives and she's forced to race down the driveway and head off to school. Mark came in and we both looked out the window to watch the bus drive off and we knew she wouldn't be smiling when we waved. Then as the bus passed in front of our house, we saw her: Her hands formed into a giant "L" on her forehead. LOSER!!!! Ahhh, the joys of parenthood. The funny thing is that she thinks she escaped. We'll see about that. MWAAAAHAHAHAHA!
